William Aced It

If you recall, William mastered heuristics back in his PSLE days. He gradually grew up in his own way, in a neighbourhood secondary school where he managed to shine each year despite his lack of discipline in building a routine to study regularly and using last minute study hacks to accomplish what he could to promote to the next level each year. The challenge came in his 4th year of studies in secondary school. Just like a typical Singaporean child, he had to participate in a local national exam called the O level Singapore Cambridge examination, which holds a higher stake and allows one to gain admission to either a junior college or a polytechnic ie. a pre tertiary institution in Singapore. At first, he struggled with the routine of doing homework every other day. He could not submit his homework timely. Next, he had to build a routine of revising on his own in addition to submitting homework. Other issues came along, such as struggling with mock practical science exams and school teachers teaching the curriculum too slowly as compared to other schools. Fortunately all the issues were ironed out in time and no school breaks were wasted. We worked together as a team, complementing with last minute study sessions and prep talks. He was sharp, confident and happy that he completed his O level exams successfully and even had the confidence of achieving a certain score that I was not aware of. In the end, when results were released, he aced it, straight A for his Math and Science subjects ! =) This is a proud moment to remember. A student who struggled studying regularly succeeded in achieving beyond what was expected of him !
